Fork lift truck driver prosecuted
A 21-year-old fork lift truck driver has been prosecuted following an industrial accident in which a banksman sustained multiple injuries.
He was fined £500 at Livingston Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to a charge under S.7 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
While working during October 2007 on a construction site in Livingston, West Lothian, he was operating a telescopic forklift truck without deploying its stabilisers, and as he lifted part of a timber house kit it dropped its load on the banksman.
Investigation found he had provided misleading evidence to his employer concerning his training and experience.
