69-year-old man crushed to death at skip hire site
A 69-year-old man has died after being trapped under a heavy gate at work.
Malcolm Kennedy's body was discovered by colleagues arriving for work at Corrie Skip Hire in Loreny industrial estate at Kilmarnock in Ayrshire.
Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the man's death on Monday.
He is understood to have been crushed after an industrial gate toppled over inside a storage compound.
Workmates described widower Mr Kennedy, of Kilmarnock, as a popular man who returned to work after retirement as he wanted to keep active.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
